I faced this problem when I try to reinstall my WindowsXP
Professional.

In the installation process, after i put my WindowsXP key
it appears 3 boxes. In the last two are the Administrator
password/confirm. When i put a password it gives me this
message :
"Setup was unable to change the password for user account
administrator...."

I am stuck on this message of the administration
password during thee setup at 33min to end the
installation.I have tried to put on the boxes no
password, any password and my old administration password
but the setup it is still jammed with that message.

1-How can i resolve this issue?

2-Or if there an option get back to my original windowsXP
without losing (almost)anything? Because I am using NTFS,
I try to plug in the harddisk in other pc, but I can't
retrieve my data from my personal folder.

Just need some help to pass this part of the setup.
Any advice will be well accepted. =)
Thank you very much for your support.

Reply to: 2.- Your data is probably not lost, plug in the hard drive as
slave and take ownership
from the drive Letter:\properties.. Log-in with an administrator account,
in Tools\Folder Options\
View\remove check from Simple File Sharing (recommended). and proceede
