I need a step by step guide to make a trust between 2 domains, 2 domains are
on different subnets connected via a WAN. Also when browsing the network I
don't see the other domain, I created a secondary DNS-zone referring to the
DNS server of the remote domain but it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

You will need WINS to be able to "browse" using Network Neighborhood, My
Network Places, etc. The ability to browse is based on the Browser services,
which is not DNS based, rather NetBIOS based. WINS supports NetBIOS and the
Browser service will actually retrieve teh browse list from WINS if WINS is
specified in IP properties.

Creating a domain to domain trust is a NetBIOS/NTLM function. I am stating
this because I am assuming you are speaking of Windows 2000 and you are
speaking of a domain to domain trust. If you are speaking of a forest trust,
then DNS will be needed. Otherwise, you need WINS. Setup WINS on bot
domains. Setup a repliaction partnership between them. THen attempt the
trust.

Keep in mind, you can also use LMHOSTS files to do this.
