Attempting to establish peer-peer home network with two Dell desktop sytems.
One running windows XP and the older system running Windows 2000. Both
systems are up to date with patches via wireless interface (Linksys router
and Verizon modem. The W2K sytem has no problems and all interface
components are operational. However, the XP sytem, LAN link, when enabled
disrupts the Internet access. On startup, LAN connection (Intel Pro/100M
Network Connection)fails and must be disabled to allow normal internet
access. Failure notice provided is the inability to assign an IP address.
Have checked and rechecked the Client, services and protocols (Client for MS
Networks, QOS, File & Print sharing,MS TCP/IP Ver.6). Unable to delete
(uninstall)Lan setup without immediate impact on Internet setup. Would
appreciate any suggestions that could resolve interface problems.
