hi all
I've been trying to make ERD's and it works but I noticed that the
setup.log file is always dated as 2006/July , everytime it is the same
file never changes I mess with the system all the time everyday which is
I am surprised by this date ,
so I opened it and saw it refers to "partition 2" as the Windows
partition which was true back then , but now it's "partition 4" you see
how much do I mess with my system? :) so now how can I get it to be
updated?
I read no microsoft that it will be updated upon SP installations and
hardware changes among other things , and I ve changed many hardware
from 2006 july --> 2007 may

thanks to all

So far as I can determine, setup.log is created when Windows is installed
and never touched after that. Mine is dated 10/03/2001.

Presumably you're referring to the part about when setup.log changes.
Those statements may have been true when written, but they are true no
longer. Currently on Win 2000, setup.log is never changed after it is
first created.

thanks gary this is exactly what I needed to know would you kindly refer to
a document about that for me if it is not much trouble to you? it seems that
my information was old
thanks again

I don't have any documentation, just observation. I've checked three
different Win 2K systems, and all were the same -- no change to setup.log
after the intiial installation.
