I have xp pro at work and I am not sure what will happen if I check the box
"On resume, password protect". How do I set the password I want if it won't
give you a choice? There is a network password that was set up for me when I
first boot up every morning. Can some please help me?

The Account password is used for that. If your account doesn't have a
password and you checked that box then nothing to worry about, it will
accept blank.
