I've reinstalled Windows 2000 more then 8 times. I've
gotten the same kind of problem each time. Everything
seems to be corrupted. The Updates installation sometimes
do not work, some times, it just crashes during update.
Sometimes it says it completed sucessfully but after I
restarted my PC, the entire system crashes and I cannot
repair it whatsoever. I'm forced to reformat my harddrive
and reinstalled 2000 again. Other times, when I'm
upgrading Internet Explorer and it also says it has be
updated sucessfully, but after I restart, I log on but I
can not seem to run anything. When I click My
Computer/Control Panel, it shows a error and forces me to
close it. If I do get the updates remotely right, I can't
seem to work any programs, like Mircosoft Office. Once in
a while, I get a blue sceen, which I call the blue sceen
of death. Because it shows memory dump and it restarts.

I would be grateful of any help I can get, because I've
reached the point where I'm scared to move the mouse.

Clean install or in-place upgrade? To do a clean install, either boot the
Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set of four install disks
can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk
directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe
(from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.
