When I try to install winXP I can get to the screen where you choose to create a partition, but in the window at the botom I see:

76317 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 atapi

<setup cannot access this disk.>
Unknown Disk

<There is no disk in this drive.>

I believe my hard drive is at fault but have no Idea how to fix the problem.

Hi there. Did you manage to get it to work eventually then? Im having
the same problem! Thing is I have the same kind of HDD, but its only
"reading" 8057MB... I'm baffled.

ANY help much appreciated.

I have had this happen, the extra data on the partition won't delete no matter what. I tried max blast among many others and nothing would work. I got the ntldr error and no disk in drive, not reading total space. I tried the ntldr file fix from microsoft by creating a floppy to repair and it didn't work. The drive would not read the disk and if it did, like i said, i got the ntldr missing. All i could do, was use a second hd, set up win xp, use the disk management to fix the other hd. I then installed xp on the old one and it worked. This has helped quite a few people who experienced this.

plz suggest me the way to solve this problem

Let me ask a bit more info. Did you try installing over another OS? Like ME or 98? What type of HD do you have? And, how many cd\dvd drives do you have?
