Running Windows XPSP1, NTFS with Outlook 2003. I need to make sure the 30GB
file size limitation is set and wanted to see if that was done by default or
I needed to change a setting to enable it.

Thanks!!

You need to add a registry value.

Location:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\PST

DWORD: MaxLargeFileSize
Enter the size in Megabytes

Due to the Swen virus, all e-mails sent to this account will be deleted
w/out reading.

PS - If you are going to be doing this in an active directory domain
environment, go get the office 2003 resource kit and use the outlook.adm
file to set since this is a per user setting.

We are in a domain, but not using Exchange Server. Do I run the resource CD
from the server and add it per user or from the user's machine?

Thanks!

its pretty much up to what makes sense for your site. if you want to be
sure that all users that logon to your AD domain get the exact same setting,
it makes sense to use the adm file included in the resource kit and create a
domain gpo that is applied to the users container. (i usually install the
resource kit on the machine responsible for maintaining domain group policy
objects. this way i have all adm files in a central location.)

if you just have this one 'special' user and they don't travel between
machines much, adding the key manually is probably easier. the hard part is
to remember to add it after rebuilding a user profile or reloading of an
image.

We don't have roaming profiles setup and without Exchange Server, the mail
accounts don't move with them, so it may be easier to just set him on his
local machine. This is a single user and the only one using 2003 right now,
so I guess I could implement the admin rollout later when all upgrade to
2003.

Thanks!
