Have new and old computer's joined to an SBS 2003Prem domain. Was hoping to
do a network direct transfer from the old computer to the new computer... by
passing putting a large file on the server's share - the old computer does
not discover the new computer. Is there a way to make this happen and do a
direct - over the network - transfer? TIA -- Dodge

OK. Moved past trying to connect the two computers. Got a big wunking
external hard drive. Copied over from old computer, now get error the FAST
versions don't match. So I go online and try to find where to download either
File and Settings Transfer Wizard 5.1.2600.2665 on the new computer, OR
5.1.2600.2180 on the old computer. No joy. Tried hotfix on KB896344 - no joy.
Cannot get these FAST versions in sync. Cannot create FAST CD - it's greyed
out in program. What bugs me too, is I created the compressed file and ONLY
when I tried to access it on new computer was there any mention of version
compatibility. What a waste of time. Looking for any help in getting one of
these computers in sync with the FAST version of the other. Please, thank you.

Use the big hard drive you got later in the thread and use your Windows XP
CD to run the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard (F.A.S.T.) from - that way
you run it from the CD to export to the hard drive and you run it from the
CD to import from the hard drive - so you run the same version each time.

I think I'm also running into a 32 bit vs 64 bit issue. The new computer is a
Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 - which I think is a 64 bit chip. Getting F.A.S.T to
work is quiet a challenge. Any other suggestions welcomed. - Dodge

I wouldn't call it a 'challenge'...
What you should do is apply the following patch:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896344

Thanks, but tried that before the first post. There must be some way to get
these versions to sync, and there should be some warning about compatibility
- before one collects the data. So far it is a challenge. Thanks - Dodge

You will have to recollect the data after applying the patch to the 32bit
(machine you are collecting from) PC...
I know of no way - once you have collected the data - to do anything about
the data you collected so it will work with a different version.
