Setting your computer for a network

I have a problem that someone might be able to answer, and
that is about configuring your computer for a network
after you have physically set it up (that is, installed
the Network Adapter Card and wired it to the Switch). I
have been reading a book entitled "How to Use Microsoft
Window XP" by Walter Glenn that goes through the process,
but there is a step that I not sure about (Step9, Task1,
Part6). In the Step called "Join the Same Workgroup" it
says 'during the installation of windows xp, you will be
asked to make the computer a member of either a domain or
workgroup', my question is what happens if you have
already installed Window XP on your computer, what
procedures do you take then? If anyone can help me I
would be most appreciative.

Hi!

First you shold double-check whether you have set up the
IP-addresses, servers, etc. Then, if everything is ok, you
can join a workgroup or domain under START->SETTINGS
->CONTROL PANEL->SYSTEM->COMPUTER NAME tab. You can simply
click change or start the wizard with the other button.
Neds admin privileges.

Best regards:
