Hi,

Is there a way to install or re-configure an installed windows 2000 to an
enviornment which does not have a C drive.
I need to configure a win2000 system which has a local disk partitioned as
H: and M: and to have the OS in H or M (i.e there will be NO C drive).

Thanks

What OS do you currently have on the machine? On which drive?

Plug a memory card reader into the USB port. It'll probably take up
the first four drive letters. With the optical drive, the first free
drive letter Windows setup sees will then be H.

This is a better way:
1. Boot from the Windows 2000 CD and run setup.
2. Create the first partition (C:).
3. Create four more partitions (D:, E:, F:, and G:).
4..Delete the first partition.
5. Abort setup using F3-F3.
6. Boot from the Windows 2000 CD and run setup again. Now Windows
setup will assign drive letters C, D, E, and F to the four existing
partitions. G will be assigned to the optical drive.
7. Create the first partition again; setup will assign H to it.
8. Install Windows in the first partition (H).
9. After Windows is installed and running use Disk Management to
delete logical drives C, D, E, and F, and create one logical drive in
their place and make it M:.
