I'm currently been given the task to set up a VPN for an employee of a small
firm who needs to be able to work from home. This is the only employee(Emp)
who would need to do this. The Emp needs to us MS Word to edit files on a
network share within the business Workgroup. And would like to have Emp
home computer show up on the Local Computers list so to see when Emp is
connected. Neither the business nor the Emp have Static IP address.

The documentation in the help file is totally lacking requirements and
description of what VPN will do for us. I could really use some help in
getting more documentation in the use and setup of VPN.

thanks mucho in advance

Hi John,

I am also having problems with a VPN connection again both
the target and client PCs had static IPs. We have
corrected this to a certain degree because we now have a
static IP at the business end, but I am still having
problems with the firewall blocking the incoming dynamic
IP of the laptop. I think the first thing to attempt is to
get static IPs if not there is a company who offer a free
service where you can use their servers as a static IP and
they route to your business. Just a point I had no success
but it could have been the firewall again. However, try
them it may work for you the address is www.noip.com.
