setting up two HD

I just installed a new 20 GB Maxtor drive in my PII
233/Asus P2L97 computer. I used DriveCopy 4.0 to swap over
the contents of my 4 GB Fujitsu drive, which worked well.
I now have both HD physically installed with the new drive
set as the primary master and the old drive set as the
primary slave. Win 2000 Pro recognizes both drives in the
hardware manager, and says they're working fine, but
Windows Explorer will not see the slave drive. I am
wondering if it is confused and thinks that they're
both 'C' drive (C shows up as the new 20 GB master). Any
suggestions?

Thanks.

Does DiskManagement show both disks? Try to reinitialize hard disks: delete
HKLM\System\MountedDevices content and reboot.

I don't seem to have the 'DiskManagement' software, but
Device Manager tells me that I have the two drives. The
Disk Defragmenter in Accessories can see the old drive
(which is as close to using it as I have got), but it has
the same volume label as the new one and no letter
designation. The 'add new hardware' function also thinks
that the drive is there, but it is not available in any
way.

I did a search of the HD and could not find these
directories, would they by a non-Win 2000 kind of thing?

I found out where DiskManagement was (I'm not exactly an
IT guy...) from brousing similar stuff on ExpertsExchange
and it showed both disks. I set the drive to acitve, and
then assigned it a drive letter and now it works. Thanks
for getting me on the right track.

NP.
Eh-he-heh, the Internet generation... Why to explore any ExpertsExchange
instead of just Help on your own box (Win+F1)... :)
