Hi,

Our company would like to be able to send and recieve faxes from desktop. I
am new to this concept and was wondering if anyone could provide me with more
information on what steps to take to achieve this.

Is there any software out there to enable this to work?
How does it work? What are the costs?

Appreciate any responses...thanks again

Sending faxes is usually less of a problem than receiving them. What happens
is all received faxes go to one location. They are sorted, and sent, usually
via a mail server to the intended recipient.

Send fax uses a network connected fax server or multifunction printer.

Mfrs I've used HP, Brother.

Costs:
Hardware: One or more multifunction printers and LAN hardware as needed.
Software: Priced on a per seat basis. (They don't give it away)

The HP software I've used sends the received faxes to a single Email
address. The owner of this address must sort the intended recipient, and
forward. The HP multifunction device acts as a SMTP server. Faxes can be
sent via Email if the IP allows SMTP servers. (Most business accounts allow)
Residential accounts may block the SMTP server.

There is no foolproof way to totally automate the process, due to possible
variation of addressee information in the received fax.
