what is the best way to setup Remote Desktop for Windows
2000? I need to remote control a Windows 2000 Pro system
from an XP system.

Hi Lori,

There was not a version of Remote Desktop that shipped on Windows 2000
Professional. You may want to look into NetMeeting to see if that does what
you are looking for, depending on the level of control. There are also 3rd
party applications like PcAnywhere.

Hope this helps!

So, there is no way to take control of a Windows 2000 Pro
system without a 3rd party app? Thanks, Lori

Hi Lori,

Netmeeting shipped with Win2000 Pro so you can use that to a certain extent
depending on your needs. Outside of that you will need a 3rd party app.

Sorry.

MSN Messenger, with the remote assistance feature. But that will only work
if the 2000 system is making a support request. It cannot be connected to.

It might be better to just install 2000 server on this computer, and use
terminal services in administration mode to do give you the functionallity
you need. That, or PCA or the like.
