I am new at this, so I am sure I am doing something wrong
just don't know what. I have a new comp and am trying to
network to an older computer running win98. The old comp
has an Intel 82557based integrated ethernet(10/100.) I
have used the proper cable to hook the 2 computers
together directly. I am not trying to go to internet as
both computers are already set up through modem. I am
simply wanting to share files between the 2 and use
printer that is on my new computer from the old. Is my
problem that I still need a hub, I cannot just connect
the 2 directly with a cable? Any help would be
appreciated. I have run the network wizard on both
computers. Thanks Nob

what kind of cable do you have?

I think it is called the rj-45. the one that looks like a
phone cable but the ends are slightly larger.

Are you using crossover cable to connect the two computers
and not just patch cable?
