Setting up home network!

This may sound like a very stupid question to ask? I
recently bought a linksys wireless home router. I have my
desktop pc running xp pro and the laptop running win
2000. The desktop is hooked up stright into the router
and the laptop runs on the wireless, like most people I
assume. What I am trying to do is setup a home network so
I can use the printer from the desktop while I am on the
laptop. I ran the xp home networking setup and gave the
desktop a name of home with a group of my last name:
simonds. then it asked me to make a disk to setup on the
laptop for win 2000. I know that I have to give the same
name, simonds, to the laptop and then setup the printer to
share. I got an error on the disk when I tried to run it
on the laptop that states: this is not a valid win 32
something or other. Did I do something wrong or do I just
need to rerun the application! also if I want to use the
printer from the laptop, do I go to properties of that
printer and just click on "share this printer with other
computers". I am a novice at this sorry to sound so
dumb!! Can someone email me with a good link to help
