Hi everyone.
I'm new to this group and I don't know a lot about WindowsXP so please
pardon me if this has been asked a ton of times before.

I have 2 computers at home. Both are now running WindowsXP. With a family of
8, everyone has there own account, email address, folder on the 'D' drive to
store their stuff, etc. What I am trying to do is setup one system (I'll
call it CompA) as a fileserver that holds all our data. The other system
(I'll call it CompB) has no data on it.
When I log into CompA, my files are local as they are on the D drive. When I
log into CompB, it mounts the volume from CompA and I get my files. Sounds
simple enough so far.
I have gotten all this to work with the 8 accounts. However (you knew that
coming...), here are some problems I am getting:

A) My folder on CompA is locked so that only I can see it. When I log
into CompB, it will not allow me to see my folder from CompA. How do I tell
the system that I'm the same person and let me access my files?

B) More importantly, when one of the kids logs into CompB, they can see
their files from CompA, but it's read only. How do I make it read-write?

From the WindowsXP help, it says to share files use the 'Sharing Folder'.
But that's not what I really want to do. I need to be able to login to any
of the 2 systems and get my files.
Any help that you can provide would be most appreciated.
Thanks!

Patrick.

If you are protected from external abuse (ie firewalled etc) you could make
the any of the folders (including the c: drive itself a shared drive)
