I'm trying to setup a wireless network from my desktop
hardwired into a wireless router to my laptop with a
wireless adapter installed. The problem is that I don't
have a floppy drive for my laptop and when going thru the
setup wizard the wizard wants to make a floppy disk to
take around to the other computers to be installed on the
network. I would like to use my 256MB USB flashdrive. Does
anyone have any idea how I can get the network wizard to
do it thing on the USB drive (at both the desktop and
laptop)????
Any help is greatly appreciated...

First if you have Windows XP on both machines then you
can just run the network wizard on each of them
individually.

Otherwise, I think that if you just accept the wizard's
suggestion to make a floppy, it will ask you where you
want to make the floppy. At that point browse to your
flashdrive, or just create a folder and have it create
the "disk" there. Then either move your flashdrive or
just go to the folder that has the "disk" and e-mail it
to yourself. All you need to do it somehow get it to the
other computer so you can run it. I don't think there is
any need for it to be a floppy.

There's no need to make the floppy disk. Tell the Wizard not to do
it.

The Wizard is in file C:\Windows\System32\Netsetup.exe. You can copy
this file to the USB flashdrive and run it on another computer.

If a computer runs XP, you can run the Wizard directly from the
Network Connections folder. If a computer runs Windows 98, Me, or XP,
you can run the Wizard from the Windows XP CD-ROM. I've written a web
page with details:
