I just purchased a laptop that has wireless capabilities.
just had Roadrunner wireless installed. My question is.
Is it possible to set up a wireless network between my
laptop and my tower. So i can transfer files between the
two computers. The people from Roadrunner set up a
Toshiba PCX 5000 Modem. My tower is a Medion Pentium 4
2.6. My laptop is a Medion Pentium 4 2.4 Both computers
run Windows Xp Home edition. Any help will be greatly
appriciated.

With that wired/wireless router/modem, you don't need to
create an all-wireless network. Use a wired connection from
your tower to the router and a wireless connection from your
laptop to the router, and the low-level network is done.

Enable the router's DHCP server, and set both PCs to be
DHCP clients -- that will force them to both be in the
same IP subnet, a prerequisite for simple networking.

Then run XP's NetWiz, and tell it that you get to the
'net through a "Residential Gateway" -- M$speak for a
router.
