Hello,
I searched through this newsgroups and was amazed by the amount of posts
regarding this matter. How ever I did not find any aplicable answers.
My problem is that users can't connect, I'll explain in detail.

Server: Windows 2000 SP4.
2 Network Cards, First is the local lan with IPs of 10.1.11.X (HUB-A), the
second goes directly to the internet (NO firewall) with a valid IP address
(Switch-A).
Once Routing and Remote Access was configured, I was no longer able to ping
the machine or surf from it. I asume that this is normal. (the server was
able to surf previously, so the gateway config is fine)

If I conect my Win2K pro laptop to Switch-A, give myself a valid IP address
(same sub-net as server), I CAN connect to the VPN and do all sorts of fun
stuff.

The problem is when I want to connect from further away...

Clients conected to the interner using cable modems, they only get as far as
Authenticating User Name and Password.
Others get "The Remote machine is not responding"

They do not have firewalls installed.

It is as if the packets get "lost" on their way back to client from the
server.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks

You should be able to ping your server from users side.
Otherwise how they will get to your server?
Check your IP configuration and network cables.

That's just the thing.. When I disable remote access, you can ping it from
anywhere and access it's web services etc. It's when I enable the damn thing
that I cant ping.

Nope,
Well, at least I do not think so.. I did the default install of the RRAS.
Does it come with any default packet filters?

Do you have any pakcet filters enabled on your external
NIC through RRAS ? this well may be the case.
