Vicki142

I have verizon and I have 1 main account and 2 sub accounts. I was able to
set the 2 sub accounts up with no problem but the main one for the life of me
I can't figure out how to get it set up. It keeps giving me a port 110 error
which I am understanding is a known issue. Has anyone else been able to get
it fixed or know where I can look to fix it. I really need this set up and
its driving me crazy.

I'm positive that the password is right. I use it every day to get into my
actual account.

Unable to send or receive messages for the VickiW142 account. An incorrect
password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be
asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR [AUTH] Authentication failed
Server: 'incoming.verizon.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No

No, that's not a known issue.

We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

My Verizon Setup is as follows:

Pop3: incoming.verizon.net Port: 110
Smtp: outgoing.verizon.net Port: 25
SSL: NOT checked on either, pop3 or smtp
Incoming SPA: NOT checked
Outgong "My server requires authentication": Checked

And I have McAfee enabled for email but, so far, no issues due to that . . .
.. . . .

Change Smtp port # to 587 , NOT 25.
Here is the link to Verizon.net settings. Pay attention to General Support
( left hand corner ).

I responded to your identical post in the Windows Live Mail newsgroup.
Please don't post the same issue to multiple newsgroups, since this is
not a Windows Mail issue.

Ok, i tried everything you have told me to do. I have seen on other forums
that it is an issue that others have had thats why I said that. I was on the
phone with verizon for over an hour and they are telling me that it IS a
microsoft mail problem so I have no idea what else to do now. Any ideas
would be greatly appreciated.

here is the error message

Unable to send or receive messages for the Verizon (VickiW142) account. An

you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

Port: 110

Vicki142 - On the server tab of your setup, at the bottom, there is a
checkbox for "My server requires authentication" --- CHECK that, and click
on the "Settings" button beside it, and enter your email where it says
"logon using" (just the first part - NOT the "@verizon.net" part).

Also, just asking, did you change that SMTP port for outgoing mail to 587?
You need to - mine had stopped working on 25 and when I changed it, it
started working again (I hadn't realized that when I gave you these settings
earlier - sorry).

Hope this helps, let us know.

I'm working with BOTH Live and Mail to see if I can get either one of them
working. They are both giving me the error. I'm going to try that all now.

You wrote "I tried everything..."
I don't know what all that entails.
It would be helpful for you to detail what all you have tried.

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with
Windows Mail over time.

Thank you for all the help. It is fixed. I didn't realize that it made a
difference that I connected my verizon to yahoo. I appreciate all the help
you have all given me.

Glad to hear it works now. Verizon has several different email systems,
which makes it confusing for the user as well as those trying to help.
