Setting up a remote computer

Can someone explain to me how to set up a connection between two computers.
I have a computer at home that is on a network with two adl computers. I am
trying to acces my computer from another location and i have no idea how to
do this. I cannot find any detailed steps to set this up can someone please
help. All the compters are running win xp and they all connect through dsl

Windows XP what? Home? Or Professional?

If Home - you'll have to use third party products. UltraVNC is nice.

If Professional - you can use Remote Desktop.
