I have just moved from Win98se, which I had the PWS
installed on it so that I could test my site without
having to upload it. I want to do the same with Windows XP
Pro but I'm having a problem. After a while it stops
responding with the following error message:-

HTTP 403.9 - Access Forbidden: Too many users are connected
Internet Information Services

I believ it is because of the HTTP not releasing the
connections. Could anyone please give me a bit of
information on how to stop this happening.

The IIS5.1 which comes with XP Pro is limited to 10 simultaneous connections
and a single website with multiple subwebs. A connection can be anything
from a webpage to an image... basically anything that has to be 'connected'
to be viewed. The IIS5.0 which comes with Windows 2000 Professional has
exactly the same limitations.

The only way to increase the number of connections allowed is to move to a
Server operating system, such as the (now discontinued) Windows 2000 Server
family or the Windows2003 Server family which allow unlimited connections
and unlimited websites.
