Setting up a network and using a DSL modem

I'm trying to set up my network with a total of 3
computers. The main computer has a DSL modem connection
through the Ethernet port. For some reason, when I use
the USB connection, I get nothing on either computer.
Using the Ethernet, however, limits my ability to
interface the other PCs. Maybe I'm not even using the
correct terminology, but I hope you understand what I'm
trying to accomplish.

is it possible that you just dont have the right drivers
installed to use your dsl modem via usb? is the machine
detecting the modem when it is plugged into the usb? if
it is, you might need to remove the ethernet connection
for the modem in the device manager as this might be
causing a conflict. failing that if you cant get your
modem working via usb, buy a couple extra network cards

Josh,

there are several ways to solve this problem, but the best is to
buy a cheap WAN router, such as the SMC 7004 VBR, and use that
to connect the Internet DSL line with your three computers.
