Hello, i am new to active directory and "group policies"... i've been
messing around with them a little but i cant seem to get any to work
properly, would someone mind walking me through it, that is setting up
a policy for a certain group...

Open Active Directory Users and Computers
Right click the OU for which you want the policy applied to, choose
Properties
Click the Group Policy Tab
Click the New Button, name the new policy click enter
Click Edit
In the GPOE set the properties for the policy
Close the GPOE

Once the client reboots, it will pick up the policy

-Hope this VERY BASIC list helps.

-Tom

one more thing i am trying to map the username to their home folder...
is there a script that will create the user's folder with permissions
for only them to use it and map it to their computer?

Unlike the NT Days when you could set policies on Groups, you cannot
do that with Group Policy.

Group Policies ONLY affect Users and Computers and those users and
computers have to be in an OU that is in or below the one that
contains the GP.

Create an OU. Move a User into it. Create a Group Policy on that OU.
Set the User Configuration on the GP. Test.

Your DNS MUST be setup correctly for GP to work.
