Is there some way to set the default viewing options for the reader of a
Word document? i.e. I would like a downloaded document to open on the
recipient's computer in Page Layout at 100%. I use Word 97.

Thanks

The view and zoom information are saved in the document file. Open the
document in Word, set the view and zoom as you want, and make some editing
change (e.g., insert a space and delete it) so Word knows there's something
to save. Save the file and close it.

When the recipient opens the file, they will see the same view and zoom --
unless they have an AutoOpen macro that forces a different view.

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/SaveViewAndZoom.htm for more
information. (The discussion of Normal.dot there applies only to controlling
how new documents appear on your PC.)

If you save the document in Page Layout at 100%, that's the way it will
open, provided that (a) the user doesn't have an AutoOpen macro that changes
the view or zoom of all opened documents and (b) a Word 2003 user doesn't
have Reading Layout view enabled.

Many thanks for those simultaneous and identical replies! I hadn't
realised that Word saved the settings in the doc.
