Hello-

I have a wireless connection in my house as well as a hard
wired cat5 run to my computer. I want to have the hard
line because this allows me to connect to my network at
100megabits/sec as opposed to my wireless where I get 11
megabits/sec.

When I have both plugged in, it automatically uses my
wireless connection. I'm wondering if there is a way I'm
able to change the priority of what connections are used.
So in other words, if my hardline is connected, I want it
to use that first, and if it's absent, I want it to try
the wireless.

Ideas? Email me at (e-mail address removed) or post here.
Thanks so much!

Assign a metric to each network connection, with a lower number for
the wired connection and a higher number for the wireless connection.

To assign a metric to a network connection:

1. Open the Network Connections folder.
2. Right click the desired connection.
3. Click Properties | Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
4. Click Properties | Advanced.
5. Un-check "Automatic metric".
6. Enter a number between 1 and 9999 for the "Interface metric".
