setting print area

is it possible to set the print details for a web page? it
displays great in the browser, but when printing, is too
wide for the page - being able to set it to not print the
left border would probably be enough...

The Web is intrinsically an on-line experience. Surely
there's a way to accomplish what you want without paper.

Otherwise, you need to either change your page design, or
design a second version of the page optimized for
printing. In the latter case, you would put a "Display
Printer-Friendly Version" somewhere conspicuous.

Even this, however, won't save you from unexpected kinds
of printers, printers set in landscape mode when you
wanted portrait, and further variations.

For short web pages create a table 640 pixels wide and as advised
above invite visitors to click a "printer friendly link". These
pages will print on A4 paper with the right hand margin intact but may
be cut short at the bottom in an inconvenient place. For longer pages
you could create Word Processing files, convert to PDF's and provide a
link to the PDF file.
