A couple of picture/graphic questions:

When I insert a high resolution TIFF file into PowerPoint
does it save its high resolution or is it reduced?

If pictures are compressed when you insert them how are
these options set?

Also related to this, is it possible to tell what the
resolution is of a graphic in a PowerPoint?

Thanks for your assistance

When a picture is inserted into PowerPoint, the full resolution of the
picture is maintained until you tell PowerPoint to 'compress it'. (Format |
Picture | Compress) However, compressing in PowerPoint isn't really
compressing, it is optimizing. The extra resolution is discarded and you
also have the option of deleting the cropped areas. This means that
PowerPoint will save only what it can use of the picture.

PowerPoint uses file compression on everything in its files when storing to
disk. (This is why using WinZip on a PPT or PPS file never yields much size
change)

Brian,

What 'B' said ....but also
If you (in powerpoint)
select the image
edit menu
copy
then start up MS Photo Editor
Then edit menu
Paste

It will get the original resolution image out of powerpoint. That's the only
way I know of finding out what resolution an image is in powerpoint
