I'd appreciate some help on another 'how do I' question. How do I set a file
parameter, like setting a View mode to List, so that a single setting
applies to ALL files. Thanks, Denzil.

Folder Options> View. Click the button to reset folders to their default
views. Then set up a folder using your preferred view settings. Click the
Apply to All Folders button.

If you like to set a different view for a folder or two and would like that
setting to be saved as well, check the "Remember view for each folder" in
the list of options on the same page of the Folder Options screen.

I've tossed in this last part because the above settings work for most
folders. You may find that some of the system customized folders (My
Pictures, My Documents, etc) need to have the preferred view set manually.
The "remember" setting will help you out with this.
