Setting Outlook as default MAPI client with Notes Present

I have a client who uses Exchange with Outlook 2000 for
external e-mail along with Lotus Notes 4.6

Notes is used for a number of databases and internal email

The problem is that when they click on say a mail link on
the web Notes is launched, and I would like to know who to
change this so that Outlook is always launched
 
What program is set as the default here: Control Panel > Internet applet >
Programs tab > Mail
 
It is set to Outlook, I have tried changing to say Outlook
Express and then back to Outlook and this works, HOWEVER
as soon as Notes is run it resets back!
 
See if changing the setting in Notes here helps:
File menu > Preferences > User Preferences > Click Mail and News on the left
Change the Mail Program dropdown

Not sure what that will do since I don't have one machine with both Notes &
Outlook on it. I'm saddled with Notes on my 'work' machine since that's what
my company uses but I've got Outlook on my 'personal' machine
