Hi,
How do I get the maximum speed for the A7N8X for the Athlon 2800+ CPU? I am currently
reading only 2Ghz + in both Belarc and Sandra.
I am open to suggestions.
Thanks
Warm Regards,
Lou

Lou,
The 2800+ is a 2.08 Ghz CPU. The confusion lies in AMD's naming
scheme. They call it a 2800+ because it is supposed perform about the
same as a P4 2.8Ghz although it's actual clock speed is 2.08Ghz. If
your boot screen shows it as a 2800+ then the BIOS settings are at
least generally correct. The stock settings should be "CPU frequency"
at 166 with a multiplier of 12.5. I don't recommend the "By SPD"
setting for "Memory Frequency", set it manually at 100% to run in sync
with the CPU for the best performance. You can also try setting
"System Performance" to "Aggressive" and the same with "CPU
Interface". If the system runs stable you will have a little more pop.
If you are interested in some mild overclocking the sytem might run
with a 200 Mhz FSB and a lower multiplier. This could give you
a 3000+ or 3200+ rating. There are a number of variables involved
including memory speed, motherboard revision, and the CPU to mention
a few.
