Setting follow up flag when sending a mail ?

I want to follow up on certain sent mails. I thought that this could be done by setting up a follow up flag and a due date before sending the mail.
I thought that the follow up would show up at my search folder when the "due date" came. But no !
 
How do you have your search folder configured? You may need to add the Sent
Items folder to its scope.
