Setting file association for view

I know that if I'm in explorer & click for details the file details are
displayed. Also that if I go to & tell it to set all files to details
everything then in future gets displayed in details mode. How for instance
can I set things so that every file dipoles details except for "JPEG's which
I wish displayed as thumbnails?

Files the jpg files in MY PICTURES, or a similar directory (folder) of
their own, and set its VIEW menu to display thumbnails.
