Setting defaults for objects

When I insert an object e.g a text box and use Format to
change the settings I tick the "default for new objects"
box and click OK but it doesn't work - it goes back to
the original format every time

Any ideas?

Neither seems to work when I try and get a Text Box with
a border - the font is fine but I can't get it to set the
default text box to have a border.....

It SHOULD work but it doesn't -

PowerPoint does treat textboxes differently from other shapes, and this is
one of the differences. They don't seem to accept default settings like
other types of shapes do.

If it's a major nuisance to format them all as you create them, you might
try using rectangles instead. Set the formatting defaults to no fill,
outline to taste, then draw a rectangle; while it's still selected, start
typing.

Thanks

It's the best suggestion I've had so far
