setting autoshape defaults for new presentations

i'm trying to set the default for all autoshapes to wrap
text and resize. when i close and reopen the defaults are
lost.
 
Is this for an autoshape (rectangle, oval, etc.) or a manually-drawn textbox?

I ask because the default settings for these are in two different places, and they're mislabeled. (Trust me on this -- I just went through the exact same thing last night trying to fix a template for a client. Tell me which you want, and I'll give specific steps.)
