I set Outlook Express as my default mail handler. However, when I try to
send mail from a contact us link on websites, either my computer freezes or I
get a message about improper installation. How do I force these websites to
use express?

You do have Vista?
OE doesn't work on Vista.
To get Windows Mail to send the email, set up your email account(s) in it.
Then, go to "Start" - "Default Programs" - "Set your default programs".
highlight "Windows Mail", then click on "Choose defaults for this program".
click on "Select all" to make sure the MAILTO is selected
click on "Save"

That's a very confusing statement. You're posting to a Windows Vista
newsgroup (microsoft.public.windows.vista.performance_maintenance) and
Windows Vista doesn't include Outlook Express, which has been replaced
by Windows Mail.

Either repost to the proper newsgroup, if are not a Vista user, or
clarify what program you're talking about.
