SetCredentials: Error # 0x80090016

Recently purchased and install Hauppauge WinTv PVR USB2 on
my win2k system. when I attempt to use the scheduler, I
get the following error message:
ERROR SetCredentials: Failed Calling Save, Error =
0x80090016.

I tried the fix in knowledge base article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;246183 to no avail. The following key does not exist
on my system:
HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Provide
rs\Type 001

In fact, there is no Cryptography folder under Microsoft
on my system. Norton and other scheduler software work
fine on my system.

Any help in this matter would be most welcome.

Still need help here... anyone... anyone...
 
what you can try is restart your machine in save mode and remove the
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18
folder then restart again as described further down in the same article
 
Thanks for the advice "god," but I tried that and every other
suggestion until I finally gave in and re-installed win2k from
scratch. There must have been a problem with my win2k install as,
unlike the other two identical setups in my network, the "Run As" text
box in all my scheduled tasks was greyed out. Something was severely
screwed up.

Now everything works just fine.
