During driver install the ATI setup creates a folder ati\support\

There are a few sub folders from previous driver updates. I believe its safe
to remove those folders, would that be ok?

Need the space

thanks

Hi, Bill.

It SHOULD be safe to remove ati\support completely. If you ever need to
reinstall, you'll have to download and expand the files again. You should
never need to reinstall, but my experience says that re-installs are a very
real possibility. Even a probability! :>(

ATI's pattern is that we download a big .exe file (9-08_mmc_uci.exe - 41,904
KB - for example), which then creates a folder (9-08_mmc_uci), which
contains many files and subfolders (31 files - 52 MB). If we remove that
folder entirely, we can recreate it quickly by re-running the .exe file.

So a sensible plan is to remove all but the .exe files for the latest
version that works. Depending on your own hardware configuration, you might
need the drivers (5-7_xp64_dd_xp_24088.exe, in my case), DVD decoder
(atiCDwiz.exe) and MMC (9-08_mmc_enu.exe - and I still don't know what that
_uci file is, or if I need it). That should get back the space used by the
folders, but you won't be able to reinstall unless you have enough room to
expand them again, at least temporarily.

Thanks for the info. I do have folders for all the updates so I will remove
them and keep the latest.

Appreciate the advice
