I've just been asked to create an Access DB and they want everything....HELP

(I just got the MS-A2K Bible by Prague)

I need to learn how to create a front end and backend set-up

They want remote administrator access
(view only) from the intranet
security logins
Different user screens for each access level/wkgrps
as well as different reports for the levels/wkgrps
not to mention pics and docs to be held in the DB and touch/update history....

Slooowwww down a bit. First you need to collect all these requirements into some reasonable listing that you can use as a reference as you build this super-app.

How you implement it, i.e. front-end/back-end, .mde, etc... all gets worked out as you detail the requirements. from the requirements you create a design that fits within your skill level. Be forewarned - creating a sophisticated security model for a home-grown application is not trivial.

Front-end/back-end can be done anytime along the way. Access will do it for you with a wizard. Focus on the right table design to fit the requirements of the application first. Then worry about how it gets implemented.

Thanx Earl

With the little I've gotten so far, I know this much...nothing is normalized
or even close to standardized :-) there is alot...REPEAT...alot of M:M
relationships in this potential DB.

I used my old programming books and created an outline of the things that
I'll need to do from Defining (datamining), Designing, Developing, Debugging
(test), Deployment (live), Documentation and Directions (training and
populating the DB).

I'm up to approx 750 hrs...uhm...is this a reasonable figure for a new
international DB?

FACULTY DB
that needs
CONTACT/ Professional & Personal data
LOGISTICAL/Travel data (historical)
MEETINGS/Speaker($/points) data (historical)
PLUS

Opps gotta go
