set permission for a folder

Hi,

How can I set permission for a folder? Under NT4 I can do it on
property-window of the folder (???).

Same way in XP as long as the file system is NTFS and you have unchecked
"Simple File Sharing" in Folder Options. Then right-click on the target
folder and you will see the Sharing and Security tabs.

Yes, I can see the Sharing and Security tabs. But now I can only share the
folder, but not set permissions for users.

Why not? There are two tabs - one for Sharing and one for Security.
You're not giving enough information to get help. Is this computer on a
domain? Do the user accounts exist on the computer? See this link for
