I loaded Print Shop Pro 7 which included Animation Shop and for some reason
all my gif files in all my folders converted over to Animation Shop files.
How do I set IE 6 so that it will be my default gif file reader again? Thanks!

Open My Computer -
On the menu bar at the top,
click on Tools
click on Folder Options
click on the File Types tab
scroll down and click on GIF under the Extensions column -

On my system, GIF files are set to open with
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer by default -

I see that one could click on Change and then
select Internet Explorer if so desired

Hi bjgobble :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

First...open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer)
Go to a folder where you have some of the .gif files
Highlight one then click on Tools on the top toolbar
Click on Folder Options>File Type tab
Scroll down the list until you find the .gif icon
Highlight it and click OK
Close Windows Explorer and then reopen
This should change the files to the .gif icon.

also.....

To restore the default file association, go to
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
Download, unzip and merge the REG file, "JPE/JPG/JPEG Association Fix"
Some image/graphics programs will change file associations.

Hope this helps

<sigh/> Always disclose your OS when you need help. Please!

XP users can use the following command to restore default
graphics file associations:

regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll
