Using FP2003 now. In earlier versions there was someplace where one could
set default meta and meta http-equiv tags for the website. Where is that
place in FP2003?

thank you

You modify the default template.

Thanks, Thomas.
I don't usually use templates. This website was generated by a gen-app, so
I don't find any template, & suppose I'll have to try and create a template
for it. Hopefully I'll find and muddle thru that.

Well if you are not creating the pages in FP, then even if FP had a default setting, the pages still
wouldn't have them applied. The reason there is not default, is that each page should have meta tag
that are specific to the page they are on.

Ok, that helps some. I only partly agree about default tags; those for meta
http-equiv and DocType I think need always to be there, but some like title
and keywords are best page-specific.
We're done here, tho, thank you.

You are welcome.

FYI, DocType could also be page specific, since it should match the content of page markup.

In Microsoft FrontPage, there is a file on your computer that is used as the
'template' for the new_page_1.htm that's created either when you open your
web or when you hit the "New Page" button. The file is called "Normal.htm".

In a normal install of FrontPage 2003, this file is in C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\PAGES11\normal.tem\

You can open this file in FrontPage and edit it like you would any other web
page. Navigate to the directory where the file is located, open the file and
choose File | Properties. You can add things that you want to be common to
all the new web pages you create from this point on in all your webs, like
Meta tags and DOCTYPE.
