I have tested the recovery of the services when a service
is failed to start in windows 2000 Pro and XP pro. It
doesn't work if the computer isn't a member of domain. I
don't find in the manual to said it must work as a member
of domain.

Any advise to make this function to work on the computer
which is just a member of the workgroup or alone.

Thank a lot!

Lingling, from your post I believe you're referring to the configuration
options that can be adjusted for specific services on how to handle a
failure? If I'm wrong, please correct me.

I have worked with these features many times in the past and have not
encountered any problems setting these options (and having them work
successfully) on machines both in domains and on stand alone machines.

Do you receive any errors when trying to change these settings? Do they
settings save at all or are they back to the default settings once you save
them and re-enter the service configuration tab? If this is a corporate
machine that you use in your office, it's possible that there is a machine
policy applied to it that is 'locking' down functionality as per your IT
departments mandate.
