Services in Home vs. Pro

I have XP Pro at home and Home at work. I can run Services.exe at home
but cannot at work. The file is there but does nothing when clicked.
Won't run from the Run box, either. Is that a limitation of XP Home or
is something glitchy in the system? I am the only user at both
installations, thus am Administrator.

Logon with administrator privileges and go to
Start > Run and type: SERVICES.MSC , and hit enter.

Oops! That's what I used at home. But forgot at work. Damn brain cells

I have XP Pro and the services.exe on my system doesn't
do anything (when clicked on) either, what dose it do for
you? Since you say it works on your XP Pro at home, what
does it do on your system when clicked?

As M. Frisch and I agreed (above) the correct command is Services.msc.
When you are there you can turn specific services (eg windows utility
programs) on or off and alter their availability. You can also botch up
your system pretty thoroughly unless you have some idea what each
service is about. So be careful! www.blackviper.com is a good resource
for information.
