Hi all,
We upgraded our Mac clients from OS9 to OSX and are now
having problems with files that had no extension not
opening properly.
Under OS9 we used Appletalk to map the shares and the
users had resource forks to associate the files to their
applications.
Under OSX they are using SMB because Appletalk was too
slow. When they use SMB they lose the resource forks and
the association is lost.
Question 1: Does anyone know a way around this?
Question 2: Is there a way I can rename all of the files
with no extension in an automated fashion based on the
original resource forks?
Question 3: Why is Appletalk so slow? Is there a fix for
this so I can go back and use Appletalk and drop SMB all
together?
Thanks!
