The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

Can I get some help here ? I can't find the Parallel port driver service or the PortIO service in the services section. Are they named something else ?
Or maybe someone knows how to fix this.

You left out some needed information.
Does the computer actually have a parallel port?
If so, is there anything attached to this port? (Printer?)

This is an event that can have 1000s of variants. It could be indicating
that a parallel device is installed, but not connected to the system or that
a device is not installed and it is connected to the system. It could also
be a BIOS issue.

The source of Services Control Manager is not useful since this component
simply handles the start up of services and it is just recording the
failure.

Can't really say. I don't think it does. but I could be wrong. The machine is a HP Pavilion a1723w. Manufactured Jan 2007.

Nothing in my system information says I have a parallel port. The printerI'm using is USB.

any idea on how to disable this alert vs trying to remember that it isn'tcausing any trouble and should be ignored ?

Your system probably does not have a parallel port since most modern systems
have gone exclusively to USB or Firewire.

You can safely ignore this warning, but if you want to research it a bit
more, there is a lot of documentation on the following website.

What I was getting at, this shouldn't be an error if the services don't exist.
I just can't find these things in the services. What is their name ?
