Services.exe using 100% CPU

For 2 months now, when enabling/disabling or plug/unplug
of LAN cable to my laptop, the process called
<Services.exe> goes up to 100% CPU usage for 2 to 5
minutes. It then periodically (roughly every 10 mins.)
does the same thing for the entire time. I have all the
latest updates and service packs installed and am
struggling to figure this out. Any suggestions. I have
Win 2000 Pro w/256 meg of RAM.

I would do a serious check on viruses and worms.

It is probably related to the 835732 patch. There has been much written
about this topic in other NGs. Might want to search the KB also.
