Services.exe problem...

I have a problem with my Windows 2000 laptop. The laptop is at SP 4 and is
current on all the updates. The problem is that whenever an action is
performed
that changes the IP Address information (eg connecting to a VPN, or simply
changing from a DHCP address to a hard coded address) the services.exe pegs
the processor at 99% for a minimum of 2 minutes and 16 seconds. It has also
done it other odd times, but I can count on it 100% when the IP information
is modified.

Can anyone give me anything that might help me correct this? This is a
corporate laptop and other corporate laptops do not have this issue.

I would appreciate any assistance.

Oh and the services.exe version is 5.0.2195.7035.

Thanks.

You might look for an updated driver for the network interface.

Dave,

I installed that latest NIC driver and still am having the same issue.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks.

Check Event Viewer for errors. Failing that you might have your IS dept.
re-image the machine.
